Innovate ‘food delivery’ series highlights safe and sustainable food packaging options

Thursday February 25, 2021

A new four-step plan to ease England’s lockdown could see all legal limits on social contact lifted by 21 June, if strict conditions are met. Non-essential retail, pubs and tourism facilities are set to reopen in April, whilst cinemas, museums, hotels, and sporting events are set to reopen in May – all with social distancing measures in place.

As hospitality operators reopen, practical and robust disposable food packaging solutions will be critical to the success of on the go and home delivery menus. With this in mind, Bunzl Catering Supplies is recommending a number of safe and sustainable food packaging options for a variety of hot and cold foods via its Innovate brand.  The Innovate ‘food delivery’ series highlights board and bagasse food boxes, board and EPS burger boxes, PP containers with clear lids, EPP clamshells and paper bags.

The closure of the hospitality industry saw hospitality operators innovatively rethink their menus and service offer, implementing changes that are likely to endure beyond the Covid-19 crisis. As they reopen to customers, restaurants and caterers will be making important changes on site, minimising shared touch points, looking to utilise outside dining areas and serving a wider range of dishes for takeout or home delivery. The provision of takeout and home delivery will continue to provide a critical stream of revenue.

Utilising its global resource and expertise in food packaging and hygiene supplies in the hospitality industry, Bunzl Catering Supplies is offering expert advice and product solutions to help customers adapt their food businesses to the current climate and quickly and safely reopen. The provision of innovative and appealing food packaging that is fit for takeout and home delivery is an important part of getting operators back up and running.

Bunzl Catering Supplies provides a range of market-leading food packaging solutions designed for a wide variety of dishes and applications; burger boxes made from micro-flute material to provide superior insulation, paper bags with practical tin ties offering an easy and secure means of closure., leakproof containers that can be washed at home and used again, and compostable clamshells made from renewable resources.

Putting safety and sustainability first, Bunzl Catering Supplies delivers the food packaging products required to help operators in the hospitality sector operate successfully in the new normal in 2021.
