100% recycled Revive salad containers for seasonal Summer eats.
As we step into Summer, catering and hospitality operators are introducing new cold food dishes to their menus to cater for the increased consumer demand for summer fayre. To ensure that operators have the food packaging required to serve a variety of cold food treats, Bunzl Catering Supplies has launched a new 100% recycled salad container, as part of its Revive range of recycled and recyclable food packaging. Developed in partnership with London Bio Packaging, the new Revive salad container, with its 100% recycled content, is likely to be exempt from the proposed HMRC Plastic Packaging Tax.
Manufactured in the United Kingdom and embossed with the words “100% recycled plastic – I used to be a bottle”, the Revive salad container is made from 100% rPET (recycled polyethylene terephthalate), a strong and durable material which is also fully recyclable where facilities exist. Consumers choosing a Summer salad on-the-go packaged in the Revive salad container can be comforted by the fact that once they’re finished with the packaging it has the potential to be fully recycled.
Due to its value, PET and rPET are the most widely recycled materials in Europe and PET is currently the only plastic material that can be recycled back into food grade material. It is also lightweight compared to other packaging, up to 85 per cent lighter than glass, which helps cut transportation costs, in-turn lowering CO2 emissions.
Not only is the Revive salad container a sustainable choice, it’s also been designed with busy foodservice environments in mind, where on-the-shelf appeal is essential. A sturdy vessel made from a high clarity material for optimum food visibility and presentation, the Revive salad container is easily stackable for small, behind-the-counter spaces. Its hinged lid negates the need of ordering and storing a separate lid and avoids any confusion on lid size. Available as a small 375ml, a medium 500ml and a large 650ml size – the Revive salad containers cater for a smorgasbord of delicious cold dishes, from pasta salad to fruit salad and more.
In 2018, Bunzl Catering Supplies adopted the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as its roadmap for action. The SDGs underpin the business’s Sustainable Future programme and environmental targets for 2020. Introducing products with high recycled content forms part of its strategy for delivering SDG Goal 12 Target 3: By 2030, substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse.
