As part of its Sustainable Future programme, Bunzl Catering Supplies has updated and re-published three important factsheets that provide a simple summary on the latest Government legislation concerning food packaging in the hospitality industry.

Focusing on the EU Single Use Plastics Directive, the H.M. Treasury Plastic Packaging Tax and the Government Resources and Waste Strategy – the factsheets present a clear picture of key legislation, what the key areas of change are likely to be, as well as critical implementation dates some of which have been changed due to Covid-19 crisis.

“As hospitality operators begin a return to a new normal post Covid-19, Government legislation will continue to present businesses with significant challenges, but with these up-to-date resources, customers can start to plan ahead.” says  Justin Turquet, Head of Sustainability at Bunzl Catering Supplies, he continues: “The ability for us to understand and act upon Government initiatives will play a crucial part in how we can help our customers going forward. At Bunzl Catering Supplies we are working in partnership with our suppliers and customers to help them develop and implement strategies that will build towards a sustainable future.”

As part of its Sustainable Future programme and in line with its UN Sustainable Development Goals, these factsheets form part of Bunzl Catering Supplies’ commitment to providing its customers, and the wider foodservice industry, with fact-based and impartial information on all aspects of sustainability in a complex and rapidly changing foodservice environment.
