Return to Recycle by Wrapmaster®
Bunzl Catering Supplies supports Return to Recycle by Wrapmaster®
Bunzl Catering Supplies’ market-leading supplier of cling film and aluminium foil, Cofresco Foodservice – brand owners of Wrapmaster®, in an exclusive partnership with SUEZ recycling and recovery UK, has launched a new recycling scheme to support sustainability and recyclability in professional kitchens – Return to Recycle by Wrapmaster®*.
With the full support of Bunzl Catering Supplies, Wrapmaster® is offering chefs and foodservice operators the chance to claim a brand-new award-winning Wrapmaster® for free, when they recycle ANY end-of-life food wrap dispenser, regardless of brand.
Return to Recycle by Wrapmaster® provides a solution for responsible and reliable recycling at the end of a dispenser’s life, as they can be returned and reprocessed to create new products – such as white goods^. While Wrapmaster® dispensers are robust, and designed to serve for many years, those that have reached their end of life can be recycled, as part of Cofresco Foodservice’s mission to be 100% circular.
To participate, operators should visit www.wrapmaster.global/return-to-recycle and fill out the online form. They’ll be supplied with a pre-paid return label, to send back their dispenser. Once received, participants will be emailed a voucher for a FREE Wrapmaster® dispenser, which can be redeemed with a participating distributor of their choice.
In a UK facility, the returned dispensers themselves will be shredded, washed and separated into polymers and metals, which are reprocessed and made ready for recycling. Once polymers and metals have been reprocessed, they are sent to UK and EU manufacturers to be used as a substitute to virgin material in the creation of new products.
SUEZ is responsible for collecting returned Wrapmaster dispensers and transporting them to a polymer reprocessor here in the UK who will in turn supply the recycled polymers to UK and European manufacturers to be used in making new products. Any parts from the Wrapmaster dispensers not suitable for recycling will be sent for energy recovery. No parts will be sent to landfill.
As a responsible operator with a commitment to protecting the environment, SUEZ ensures that the companies it trades with operate to the same high standards of environmental compliance that it adopts itself. It has its own in-house trading team responsible for the onward sale of recyclable materials which has a dedicated compliance manager, and it carries out checks on reprocessors before entering into a trading agreement. This ensures the materials it trades are handled responsibly in line with best practice, and that reprocessor partners comply with all relevant regulatory and legislative guidance.
Justin Turquet, Director of Sustainability at Bunzl Catering Supplies, comments: “At Bunzl Catering Supplies, we are committed to supporting initiatives that drive a sustainable future in professional kitchens. Return to Recycle by Wrapmaster® provides chefs and foodservice operators with a simple way to reduce waste by recycling food wrap dispensers at the end of their life.
