Chicopee has been donating cloths and wipes to FoodCycle, a charity running community projects to reduce food poverty and social isolation across the UK, since 2011 and now also provides the charity’s community café Pie in the Sky, in Bromley-by-Bow, London, with its cleaning products. Pie in the Sky runs a training programme for volunteers to help them develop the skills and confidence they need to get a job in the catering industry.

John Whalley, business development manager at Chicopee, commented, “We have been supporting FoodCycle since the launch of the J-Cloth3000 a number of years ago, and we are proud to now also be providing our cleaning cloths for Pie in the Sky. The charity’s café is a great community run project and we hope to continue to provide our most innovative cleaning cloths for many years to come, offering the volunteers the best possible cleaning experience.”

Sarah Servante, senior café officer at Pie in the Sky, commented, “FoodCycle’s Pie In The Sky cafe in Bromley By Bow trains young people and volunteers with limited work experience and equips them with the skills they need to progress into employment within the hospitality industry. A key part of this is maintaining good food safety and kitchen hygiene standards. Chicopee has supplied us a range of cloths for keeping our work surfaces, café tables, shelving and coffee machine clean, enabling us to emphasize the importance of correct cleaning tools and processes. The durability of the cloths has helped us to keep costs low and it has been great having such a friendly contact we can rely on for advice and support.”

Chicopee has also recently started supplying Chux Hygiene wipes to Maldon Food Pantry, a registered charity that provides food parcels for financially troubled residents of Maldon and Heybridge, in Essex.

Employees from the UK office also donated non-perishable food items to be included in the parcels that Maldon Food Pantry puts together. The Pantry has donated over 4,500 food parcels feeding over 11,000 people with four days’ worth of food in the four years they have been operating.
