Bunzl Catering Supplies launch PRISTINE Safer Hands campaign.

Wednesday July 8, 2020

Bunzl Catering Supplies has launched the PRISTINE Safer Hands campaign to help operators in the  catering and hospitality sector protect their employees and the general public by implementing a rigorous hand hygiene program. Good hand hygiene is the most effective way to avoid being infected and spreading diseases, so washing your hands regularly and drying them with a paper towel is vital in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Covid-19 has brought new challenges when it comes to the safety of catering and hospitality operators and their staff and customers. Hygiene levels in all operations are under increased scrutiny and customers are worried about how they can keep themselves safe in public spaces. Businesses that fail to act upon these requirements and the public concern’s will lose the confidence of their employees and customers.

77% agree or strongly agree with the statement: “I feel more unsafe using facilities with unhygienic public washrooms due to COVID-19”. 86% agree or strongly agree with the statement: “I expect  public washrooms to provide a safe and hygienic environment to a higher  extent now than before COVID-19”. [2020 Survey conducted by United Minds in cooperation with CINT. The survey covered UK, with a total of 1004 respondents]

To help operators achieve a comprehensive hand hygiene program Bunzl Catering Supplies has launched the Safer Hands campaign from its exclusive brand of hand soaps and sanitisers called PRISTINE. The campaign provides easy to access information to hospitality operators on the very best hand care products including soaps, sanitisers and paper hand towels, as well as best practice information for employees and customers on effective hand washing and hand sanitising in the form of posters and signage.

The campaign explains that everyone should wash their hands with water and a sufficient amount of soap thoroughly for 40-60 seconds and then dry their hands for at least 10 seconds with a paper hand towel in order to reduce transient bacteria up to 77%. It is important to note that the way we dry our hands as just as important as how we wash them, and the campaign offers evidence on the merits of paper towels over air dryers.

Washing your hands with soap and water should be your default choice, but for those operators without access to running water or who wish to install entry and exit points on the premises for hand cleaning, an alcohol-based hand sanitiser can be used and is a highly effective way of killing most microbes and pathogens.

With this in mind, the PRISTINE Safer Hands campaign has launched a cutting-edge automatic touch-free hand sanitiser station. The ideal way to help fight against the spread of germs in any hospitality environment, the free-standing sanitiser station is light and durable, eye catching and dispenses hand sanitiser via a touch free dispenser.
