Innovation in food packaging and hygiene solutions for the Summer season

As the UK catering and hospitality sector prepares for the busy summer season, whether that’s catering for international tourists or delivering a new summer menu to the locals, catering operators should utilise new and innovative products that facilitate a fresh and exciting approach to hospitality. Under its Innovate brand, Bunzl Catering Supplies is featuring the very latest food packaging and hygiene products required to deliver first-class outdoor events and a mouth-watering take-out menu for the Summer season.

As customers continue to look opt for reusable options, especially for cold drinks on the go, Bunzl Catering Supplies has featured a range of reusable bottles on page of its Spring/Summer Innovate brochure. Manufactured in the UK from 100% post-consumer RPET, the Honest Bottle is the only reusable bottle designed and produced locally from recycled single-use bottles. Available in a range of 8 vibrant colours, the Honest Bottle is lightweight, has a curved design with an easy-carry loop, and a leak-proof twist cap.

As part of its Sustainable Future programme, Bunzl Catering Supplies is bringing several other reusable product options to market via the brochure. This includes ReMarkable and Bottlewrap food preparation labels, that can be written on like a whiteboard (smudge-free in 30 seconds) and are engineered to withstand hundreds of dish-washing cycles, as well a range of reusable lightweight stainless steel cutlery from exclusive brand Reuse.

Page 7 features another sustainable option for paper cutlery, a fully recyclable paper cutlery range from Sabert with a smooth feel and pleasant mouth sensation. The design is stylish and strong, delivering excellent performance with both hot and chilled food. Made from paper that has FSC® accreditation, this paper cutlery is fully recyclable in a paper waste stream.

Evolve by Faerch Plaza bowls, featured on page 8, are a packaging solution made from recycled materials that can be fully recycled into new food packaging after use. Evolve by Faerch has a unique look, with the recycled PET containing different palettes of colours, allowing consumers to immediately recognise the circular nature of the packaging, ensuring they make the right sustainable packaging choices. On page 12, new, recyclable Stagione bowls manufactured from mixed FSC board (with an on-pack label) are featured. The bowls with PP lids have superb heat retention for take-out or delivery, and are suitable for the freezer, microwave and hot hold.

In the wake of Covid-19, robust on-site hygiene programmes continue to be critical for customer confidence. As market leader, Bunzl Catering Supplies ensures catering operators are equipped with the products they need to reduce risk and to operate safely and sustainably. Pages 14 and 15 highlight exclusive brand CleanWorks® flat mopping systems. The ProClean flat mopping system is an innovative microfibre system combining the spray handle and antibacterial scrub microfibre pads for effective, rapid-response floor cleaning without the need for buckets or constant wringing out. CleanWorks® ProClean features a removable bottle and spray trigger, which delivers a fine mist solution directly to cleaning surfaces, helping you to clean and dry floors quickly.

Last but not least, the highly versatile multi-surface wipes for cleaning and disinfecting all washable non-porous surfaces are featured on page 17. The powerful cleaning action of this wipe removes grease and grime and is proven effective against all bacteria and viruses. The reusable tub can be refilled from the refill pouch to reduce plastic packaging waste by up to 85%.
