Bunzl Catering Supplies launch new online ordering system

Published On: 30th November 2016

When Costa Coffee asked us for an alternative means of placing orders, we developed a custom online ordering system to help Costa baristas optimise their time serving customers during busy periods.

Working closely with Costa and third-party mobile consultancy and enterprise software developer Mubaloo, we created a new online ordering system with smart features that make placing orders quick, simple and accurate.  These features include an intuitive interface which shows images of all the non-food supplies the store needs – in the order in which staff usually place requests, to save time in finding the items they need.  Staff also have the option of ordering the same quantities used in previous orders to save time and increase accuracy. If the tablet loses the online connection, the system retains the information already entered, until the connection can be re-established and the order concluded.

After a successful trail with 16 Costa Coffee stores, the system has now been rolled out across all 2000 of its stores and franchises. Feedback from Costa has been fantastic and we’re now looking to make this online ordering model available to other customers.

The new online ordering system for Costa Coffee is one example of a digital solution that Bunzl Catering Supplies has brought into the marketplace recently; others include an online e-learning website from exclusive brand Cleanline that provides auditable COSHH training for employees, and a Caterlabel service from exclusive brand Label 2 Go, that overprints your food packaging labels in-line with the Food Information Regulations (FIR).
