Bunzl Catering & Hospitality Division Conference 2020 at Celtic Manor Resort – #2020Vision

The Bunzl Catering & Hospitality divisional conference was held on Friday 17 January at the Celtic Manor Resort – this year themed ‘2020 Vision’. The Celtic Manor Resort is a golf, spa and leisure hotel and resort in Newport, South East Wales. The resort boasts the first golf course in history to be purpose-built for the famous Ryder Cup event, which they hosted in 2010.

Over 400 delegates from Bunzl Catering Supplies, Bunzl Lockhart, Continental Chef Supplies, Tri-Star Packaging, WK Thomas, London Bio Packaging, and our key suppliers gathered to hear the conference opened by Matt Johnson, Managing Director for Bunzl Catering & Hospitality Division, who warmly welcomed all delegates and outlined the structure for the day ahead. This was followed by a presentation from Andrew Tedbury, Managing Director for Bunzl UK & Ireland, who delivered an informative and engaging overview of the Bunzl UK & Ireland business.

Delegates at the ‘2020 Vision’ conference were treated to a special guest speaker before lunch – Maggie Philbin OBE, the English radio and television presenter whose credits include Tomorrow’s World, Multi-Coloured Swap Shop and latterly Bang Goes the Theory. Maggie presented on the theme of technology and innovation, inviting delegates to think about what the Bunzl business might look like in 2025 and beyond.

In the afternoon, interactive breakout sessions continued on this theme, with delegates encouraged to do some ‘blue sky thinking’ on how the business might better utilise technology and innovation in operations, purchasing and sales. Over 175 ideas were generated from these sessions and the best were shared as delegates regrouped for the final presentations of the day.

After a busy day, delegates re-grouped for the BOSCAR awards for achievement, which celebrate outstanding contributions to the business in 2019, presented by Matt Johnson.

A special congratulations go to our supplier KeCo Food Service Packaging, who were awarded the Bunzl Catering Supplies Supplier of the Year Award 2019.  Matt Johnson, Managing Director for Bunzl Catering & Hospitality Division comments: “KeCo Food Service Packaging has been supplying Bunzl Catering Supplies since the beginning of 2017 and together we have developed a partnership that consistently delivers trusted foodservice solutions and innovation to our customers. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with KeCo in 2019 and we look forward to continuing our important work in the year ahead.  Congratulations to KeCo for winning Supplier of the Year 2019 – the award is very well deserved.”

During the evening meal delegates entered a raffle to support charities Hospitality Action and Springboard Nicaragua trek by purchasing a £10 raffle ticket. In total, the raffle raised over £3,800 and the winner of the main prize, a fantastic trip to Doha, was Sam Biggs, National Account Manager, Bunzl Catering Supplies.
