The Bunzl Catering & Hospitality divisional conference was held on Friday 18 January at the Celtic Manor Resort. The Celtic Manor Resort is a golf, spa and leisure hotel and resort in Newport, South East Wales. The resort boasts the first golf course in history to be purpose-built for the famous Ryder Cup event, which they hosted in 2010.
Over 450 delegates from Bunzl Catering Supplies, Bunzl Lockhart, Continental Chef Supplies, WK Thomas, London Bio Packaging, Buwier, Thompson Medd Christmas, and our key suppliers gathered to hear the conference opened by Matt Johnson, Managing Director for Bunzl Catering & Hospitality Division, who warmly welcomed all delegates and outlined the structure for the day ahead. Following Matt Johnson’s introduction and a broad review of the division in 2018, Andrew Tedbury, Managing Director for Bunzl UK & Ireland, presented an informative and engaging overview of the Bunzl UK & Ireland business.
Later in the morning, the Bunzl Catering Supplies senior management team presented Bunzl Catering Supplies delegates, both employees and partner suppliers, an update on each of their business areas. The presentations were themed around the businesses’ four key pillars (people, customers, suppliers and sustainability).
In the afternoon, Bunzl Catering Supplies employees and partner suppliers took part in a variety of engaging activities that involved working together to succeed; from plate spinning to human table football – all delegates had the chance to mix together and have fun, with a little healthy competition along the way!
Suppliers who took part in the event included Anson, Amipak, Cedo, Celebration Paper & Plastics, Cofresco foodservice, CMC Daymark Ltd, Colpac, Coventry Chemicals, Dart Products Europe, Deb, Diversey UK, Gojo, Gopak, Greyland, Harrisons Wipes, Huhtamaki, Jena UK, KeCo, Kimberly Clark, Klöckner Pentaplast (kp), National Checking, Northwood, RAP, Sabert, Essity, Seal Packaging Ltd, Sharpack, Single Source, Smith Anderson and Swan Mill Paper Company.
After a busy day of conference events, delegates re-grouped for an evening meal themed around The Greatest Showman; followed by the BOSCARS, which awarded outstanding contributions to the business in 2018, presented by Matt Johnson.

A special congratulations go to our supplier Swan Mill Paper Company, who were awarded the Bunzl Catering Supplies Supplier of the Year Award 2018. During the evening meal delegates took up the opportunity to support three charities (Nia Children’s Foundation, Hospitality Action and the Springboard Borneo trek) by purchasing a £10 raffle ticket. In total, the raffle raised over £4,000 , which will be split across all three charities.
