Why tannin stains appear on crockery

Published On: 9th March 2015

An expert from the Cleanline Professional team explains what tannin stains are and why they sometimes remain on the inside of tea cups and teapots after they have been cleaned in a commercial dishwasher.

Tannin stains are caused when tannin (the brown colouring in tea and coffee) sticks to an invisible layer of limescale residue caused by hard water. Cleanline Professional provides a professional water softener product that can help reduce limescale in dishwashers.

Cleanline Professional is an exclusive brand from Bunzl Catering Supplies.
