The subtle, yet important functions of a drink coaster.

Published On: 4th June 2019

When visiting a restaurant, café or bar, you may notice that your drink is often served on a drink coaster. Whilst they are an optional accessory, drink coasters can add subtle yet important functions to your catering and hospitality business. They protect sensitive furniture finishings from unsightly marks and stains caused by an accumulation of water droplets on the surface of cups, glasses and bottles containing cold drinks, or from contact with cups containing hot drinks. They also save surfaces from scratches which can be caused by debris or a crack on the bottom of drinking vessels.

As well as having an important purpose, if the drink coaster is well designed and nicely printed it can be a great way to attract attention and can even help to advertise a business or a product. Consumers will often pick up an eye-catching drinks coaster to have a closer look at it, especially if it’s unique, intriguing or features clever text.

Our supplier Celebration Paper & Plastics offer drink coasters in a range of shapes and sizes. The coasters are primarily made from multi-ply white tissue, however there is also an option of having an additional 1-ply wax waterproof barrier on the back. The drinks coasters can be custom printed with a business’s logo or branding.

The advantages of printing your own logo and design on products is that it promotes recognition and differentiates you from your competitors. Branding also provides the consumer with clarity and creates trust and a sense of a more premium offering.

Celebration Paper & Plastics began trading under the name Celebration Coasters Ltd in 1983, specialising in the manufacture of personalised coasters, along with associated products. Since then, Celebration has expanded massively, now offering products within Paper & Plastics and Design & Print.
