Consumers continue to be concerned about potential side-effects of artificial substances sometimes used in skincare products, such as parabens, petrochemicals and toxins. Euromonitor predicts that consumers are increasingly seek out a ‘greener approach’ looking for products that do not harm their skin, and are kinder to the environment.
A recent Mintel report revealed that up to 50 per cent of US and European consumers are looking for natural and sustainable ingredients, such as organic or natural essential oils or fruit extracts, which they are happy to pay extra for.
One brand that uses only natural ingredients, free from artificial substances, is Aesop. Launched in December in 2012, Aesop has gained such a following that it grows 30 to 40 per cent every year, in 2016 it earned $178 million in revenue. Sixty-five per cent of its sales come from its own stores, 25 per cent from cafes, restaurants and hotels, 6 per cent from department stores, and 4 per cent from its website, according to an April article in the Financial Review.
The Gramercy Park Hotel, based in London, recently changed their skincare products to feature more natural and environmentally friendly products in their hotel rooms and wash rooms. In a recent article on Racked, Danielle Choi, Gramercy Park Hotel’s director of sales and marketing, said “At Gramercy Park Hotel we are using brands like Aesop because they are natural, free from artificial ingredients and show our commitment to using products that are kinder to the environment to our customers.”

PRISTINE dispensing systems
PRISTINE dispensers are available as both a manual or a touch-free system. The manual dispensing systems are available in white and the touch-free dispensing systems are available in white and chrome. For the manual dispensers you can choose between a small footprint size which provides 700ml (778 shots) or a high capacity dispenser which provides 1250ml (1389 shots). For the touch-free dispensers the small footprint size stays the same at 700 ml (778 shots) however the high capacity dispenser provides 1200ml (1333 shots).
The PRISTINE dispensing systems offer exceptional reliability, easy maintenance and have an attractive, modern design that looks great in any location. The large inspection window allows you to see when the refill needs replacing and a patented dual membrane in the pump ensures drip-free dispensing. In a recent article with popular culture news website Buzzfeed, health expert Kelly Reynolds says that although handwashing is more effective, hand sanitisers are a great option to keep your hands clean and free from bacteria if you can’t wash your hands in the moment or don’t have access to clean water.
