New strawless sip lid for grab-and-go beverages
Bunzl Catering Supplies has launched a 98mm rPET strawless sip lid from partner supplier Huhtamaki, allowing customers to be served a cold drink, slush or smoothie without the need for a straw. In line with the EU SUP Directive and the UK Government Waste and Resource Strategy, The Environmental Protection Regulations 2020, the use of plastic straws has now been restricted in the UK.
The first to bring innovative, sustainable solutions to market, Bunzl Catering Supplies is launching the new sip lid to its customers via its Innovate brand, as a suitable alternative to straws when drinking on the go. With a sleek, contemporary design, the lid fits three sizes of the Polarity tumbler range (12oz, 16oz and 21oz), reducing the number of lids required and making service simple and fuss-free.
Polarity tumblers are ideal for use within cafes, coffee shops, juice bars and catering outlets which serve convenient options that customers can grab-and-go.
The new sip lid and Polarity tumblers are both manufactured in the UK and contain a minimum of 40% recycled content (post-consumer PET), which means they would likely be exempt from the proposed HRMC tax on plastic packaging with less than 30% recycled content. Made from rPET the sip lid and Polarity tumbler range are widely recyclable.
