Conference Summary: Bunzl Catering Supplies – Celebrating Our People

The Bunzl Catering & Hospitality divisional conference was held on Friday 19 January at the Beaumont Estate; a spa and leisure hotel and resort in Windsor, Berkshire. The resort is an 18th-century mansion with a royal history.

Over 450 delegates from Bunzl Catering & Hospitality Division, and our key partner suppliers, gathered to hear the conference opened by Andrew Tedbury, Managing Director for Bunzl UK & Ireland, who presented an informative and engaging overview of the UK & Ireland business.

Matt Johnson, Managing Director for Bunzl Catering & Hospitality Division, updated Bunzl Catering Supplies delegates on the businesses performance in 2017, with special mention of our newly opened operating branch in Harlow and the successful implementation of voice technology in our National Distribution Centre in Tamworth.

Later in the morning, during a fun ‘Have I Got News For You’ segment, hosted by Gyles Brandreth, famous British politician and broadcaster, Matt outlined how the business will build upon its success by focusing on the four pillars in our value proposition –people, customers, suppliers and sustainability.

In the afternoon, 25 partner suppliers created an exciting ‘supplier village’ experience, during which they displayed their key products and services, in a variety of fun and engaging ways.

Partner suppliers who took part in the event included Huhtamaki (UK) Ltd, Coveris, Swantex, Cofresco, DEB, GOJO, Dart Products Europe, Diversey UK Ltd, Anson, Colpac, Ecolab, Plastico and KP (Klöckner Pentaplast).

After a busy day of conference events, delegates re-grouped for an evening meal themed ‘Masquerade Ball’; followed by the BOSCARS, which awarded outstanding contributions to the business in 2017, presented by Matt Johnson.

Winners included:

  • BCS Employee of the Year: Guy Poynter (Transport Manager, Basingstoke)
  • BCS Sales Person of the Year: Kevin McAlear (Key Account Manager, Cumbernauld)
  • LBP Sales Person of the Year: James Charlesworth (Area Sales Manager, London Bio Packaging)
  • BCS NAM of the Year: Shezmin Madhani (National Accounts Manager, Tamworth)
  • BCS Team of the Year: Harlow Implementation Team
  • BCS Supplier of the Year: Kimberly Clark (our partner supplier of paper hygiene and hand care)

A special congratulations go to our partner supplier Kimberly Clark, who were awarded the Bunzl Catering Supplies Supplier of the Year Award 2017.

Supported by excellent service levels, successful product innovation and focused account management, Kimberly Clark has helped us retain and win new customers within the Paper Hygiene category, resulting in significant sales growth within each of our sales channels.

Congratulations to the whole team at Kimberly Clark for winning the 2017 Supplier of the Year award and we look forward to another successful year in 2018.”

During the evening meal delegates took up the opportunity to support three charities (Nia Children’s Foundation, Hospitality Action and the Springboard Vietnam trek) by purchasing a £10 raffle ticket.In total, the raffle raised a whopping £4,500, which will be split across all three charities Congratulations to Craig Donnison, National Accounts Manager, Tamworth, who won a trip to Las Vegas or New York in the raffle!
