Cleanline and How Cleaning Works

Published On: 19th August 2015

When you try to clean anything with water, whether it’s your car, your dirty plates or even your own body, there are four factors that always come into play.  They are Mechanical Action, Time, Temperature, and Chemical Action.

Have you ever seen pictures of people in far-off lands washing their clothes on the river bank?  They start by wetting them and then chuck them relentlessly at a big flat stone until satisfied that they are clean. This is Mechanical Action, and a modern washing machine works in a similar way. The drum carries laundry to the top and then drops it to loosen and dispose of the dirt.

The Time element is simply how long you do it for. If you’ve got unlimited time you can clean anything, but most people don’t have that luxury. To achieve a good result quickly, you need to bring in one or more of the other elements, like Temperature.

Temperature is important as it lifts embedded oil and fats. If you’ve ever tried doing the washing up in cold water you’ll know that it is much harder to get really clean pots and pans than with hot water.  You can still do it though, however it’s even more time consuming and difficult without any chemical action.

Chemical Action is necessary to complement and enhance the other three factors.  You can wash your hands without soap, but you won’t make a very good job of it and it’s the same for anything else that has to be cleaned, from miniature pieces of jewellery to giant aircraft carriers.

Of course, our Cleanline team is focussed on the chemicals we sell, but we never forget the interdependence between the four essential parts. Our surveys and customer service reports are all based on achieving a successful and economical balance between them all.
