The winners of the waste2zero Awards were announced yesterday at an awards dinner held at the ‘In and Out Club’ in central London, with Bunzl Catering Supplies winning the award for the Best Recycling or Upcycling Project Award for its Verive range of reusable food packaging and Verive 360° service offer.

The latest in reusables technology and exclusive brand product innovation, the Verive range is fit for multiple re-use in a catering and hospitality environment without loss of function or hygiene. It is designed for durability, long-term value and customer convenience and it is produced with the whole life-cycle properly considered, from point of manufacture to end of life.

The Verive 360° service solution is a service offer that helps catering operators implement and utilise reusables in a circular system, at events, in-house or on-the-go. The Footprint waste2zero awards recognise excellence in waste management and prevention in the out of home sector and specifically give the waste industry a platform to showcase best practice and initiatives in this vital area. An elite panel of judges, experts in waste, packaging and sustainability, reviewed innovations and initiatives from organisations large and small, in areas such as resource management, closed loop, recycling and food redistribution. Clear leadership was evident from some organisations in the sector who are demonstrating operational strategies that reduce waste impacts to the environment up and down supply chains.

The waste2zero Awards 2024 were once again hosted by Lucy Siegle, a leading voice in environmentalism, an accomplished author of five books, and co-producer of the acclaimed Netflix documentary ‘The True Cost’.  Lucy presented the Best Recycling or Upcycling Project Award to Justin Turquet, Director of Sustainability at Bunzl Catering Supplies, with members of the wider Bunzl team in attendance. These included Robin Maxwell, Elizabeth Walters, Tracy Apps, Diane Kinkead, Katie Carver, Michael Wrigley, Jody Crawforth, Katie Borton, Emma Powell, Craig Donnison, Kerri Riley, Lara Hodgson and Ria Gair.  Special guests of the Bunzl team from contract caterer WSH, Mike Hanson and Martin Shears, were also in attendance.
