Bunzl Catering Supplies innovate with Kraft food packaging

Published On: 30th January 2020

A greater awareness around the issue of sustainability and a consumer-led demand for less plastic in their purchases has led some catering operators to take a fresh look at their food packaging – sometimes choosing to replace plastic packaging with paper or board alternatives.

Kraft board packaging is hugely popular within the catering and hospitality industry, especially for food to go areas and home delivery. It’s practical and robust – keeping food secure in transit, as well as looking appealing. When used in a street food environment, customers like Kraft board packaging because it gives a natural, organic vibe, which is great for businesses selling locally sourced, seasonal food.

This week, Bunzl Catering Supplies is launching two Kraft packaging ranges – EnviroWare® PLA lined kraft bowls with lids (compostable) and Simply Kraft multi-food PE bowls with PET lids (recyclable).

Made from kraft paperboard with a protective PLA lining to help prevent leaks, EnviroWare bowls and lids, from partner supplier ‘Celebration’, come with two lid options – a clear PLA lid for cold food and a kraft paperboard vented lid for hot food. Compostable to EN13432 in commercial composting facilities, the bowl and kraft lid are made from FSC certified paperboard.

Simple food packaging with maximum versatility, Simply Kraft multi-food bowls and lids from partner supplier ‘KeCo’ are perfect for a variety of hot and cold foods on the go, from porridge and risotto to dressed salads. Recyclable via growing infrastructure, Simply Kraft bowls are made from renewable resources and the bowl plastic content is less than the industry recommended 5% of pack weight as a maximum.
