Bunzl Catering Supplies has launched its 2023 Christmas collection showcasing recyclable Christmas crackers with reusable wooden novelty content and a range of complementary tableware.
The 14-page Christmas brochure boasts 8 new cracker designs, all made from recyclable board and containing wooden content designed for up-cycling. All crackers in the range can be teamed with an essential range of plain and festive-design tableware from partner suppliers Duni and Swantex.
In line with its Sustainable Future programme, Bunzl Catering Supplies has introduced a range of board crackers (without foil or glitter) designed to be recyclable when placed into a mixed recyclables bin without a tie or novelty content. Additionally, the novelty content for all new crackers in 2023 continue to be manufactured from wood in the shape of attractive Christmas tree novelties. Once the cracker has been pulled, customers are invited to thread the cracker ties through the wooden novelties to make up-cycled and reusable Christmas tree decorations that can be used again each year – reducing waste.
New crackers include a kraft cracker specifically designed to appeal to children. The ‘Children’s Santa & Reindeer’ cracker with raffia ties comes in a 9 inch format and contains engaging paper puzzles to keep little ones entertained whilst eating out. A new 10 inch cracker ‘Christmas Tree & Candy Cane’,, with ribbon ties, comes in a mixed case of traditionally festive red and green, whilst 12 inch ‘Festive Firework’, also with ribbon ties, provides a touch of luxury in striking designs of gold and black.
Justin Turquet, Head of Sustainability for Bunzl Catering Supplies comments: “Working suppliers and customers to reduce unnecessary waste in the hospitality industry is an important part of our market-leading Sustainable Future programme, so we are delighted to launch eight new recyclable crackers that contain all-wooden novelty content that can be up-cycled and reused again.”
The 2023 collection includes an exciting eCracker that displays a QR code that links to a web app, allowing customers to ‘virtually’ pull their Christmas cracker and enjoy festive jokes, a Christmas quiz and to share seasonal selfies. Additionally, customers can donate via the web app to international charity Shelter, an organisation that defends the right to a safe home, working to end the devastating impact the housing emergency has on people and its communities.
Robin Maxwell, Sales Director at Bunzl Catering & Hospitality Division comments: “Christmas and New Year events are a busy and exciting part of the hospitality sector’s seasonal calendar, but they can bring additional challenges, so it’s important that operators are equipped with their Christmas cracker and tableware supplies in good time. Our recyclable crackers and Christmas tableware are available to order now, designed to suit a variety of occasions and budgets, and to elevate any festive event from the ordinary to something altogether memorable.”
