Bunzl Catering Supplies Champions Sustainability at waste2zero Awards; Aggora Wins Best Recycling or Upcycling Award.

Bunzl Catering Supplies reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability by sponsoring the prestigious waste2zero Awards for the ninth consecutive year. The awards dinner, held at the In & Out Club in London’s St. James’s Square, brought together leading innovators, businesses, and organisations dedicated to advancing waste prevention and recycling in the foodservice sector.

During the dinner event, Justin Turquet, Sustainability Director at Bunzl Catering & Hospitality Division, highlighted the importance of industry leadership in driving real-world impact, especially as global policy and regulation remain in flux. The awards serve as a vital platform to celebrate those who are not waiting for perfect policy alignment but are instead taking practical action to reduce waste and promote circular solutions.

A standout moment of the evening was Aggora’s win in the ‘Best Recycling or Upcycling Project Award’ category. Aggora, in partnership with Lava Labs, was recognised for its pioneering instarinse® system—a British-designed, ultra-efficient on-site cup cleaner. Instarinse® enables businesses to dramatically reduce single-use cup waste by providing a scalable, hygienic alternative to disposables. The system uses just 50 ml of water and 0.009 kWh of energy per cycle, delivering measurable reductions in water, energy, and carbon emissions.

Already deployed with major contract caterers such as Sodexo, Compass, and Elior, instarinse® has washed over 30,000 reusable cups in early deployments, saving thousands of litres of water and kilograms of CO₂. Aggora’s approach demonstrates how innovation and collaboration can transform the foodservice industry, inspiring measurable change across government, education, and corporate sectors.

The waste2zero Awards continue to spotlight the creativity, determination, and collaboration driving sustainability forward, with Bunzl Catering Supplies and Aggora leading the way in shaping a more circular, waste-free future for the industry.
